ITA International HQ Chief Operating Officer in Yorktown, Virginia

ITA International (ITA) is a provider of integrated support services to include analysis, planning, training, acquisition management, cyber/intelligence, engineering, logistics, and maritime support services to government, non-governmental organizations and commercial customers worldwide.

ITA is seeking a qualified candidate to add to their Yorktown team as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Chief Operating Officer will lead all internal operations and will work in partnership with the leadership team to establish and drive the strategic 5-year plan and design the change process to implement the initiatives that emerge. In coordination with the CFO, coordinate the annual operations plan and budget. Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization. Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence; bridge operations and support an open-door policy amongst all staff. The COO will provide oversight and management of all operational programs, develop and implement a business development strategic plan.


  • Provide oversight and management of all operational programs, across both operations and engineering markets

  • Provide leadership and guidance for transition from a small to mid-tier market company

  • Develop and implement business development plan, Pipelines and bids

  • Develop and oversee the corporate strategic plan


  • Represent the company externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, and the general public

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution in both small and mid-tier markets

  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.

  • Demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment

  • Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrates resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems

  • Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with the President

  • Demonstrated experience and performance in managing corporate and project financial activities.

  • Travel required

  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team and promote alignment towards mutual goals.

  • Experience in developing and implementing corporate strategic plans.

  • U.S. Citizen with minimum SECRET clearance.

  • Preferred 15 years prior military experience and government contracting experience.

  • Preferred MBA with technical undergraduate degree with experience in corporate and project financial management.
