Job Description

Norfolk State University’s Department of English and Foreign Languages seeks English Adjunct faculty to begin on or before August 2018 academic year.

Responsibilities are to teach English composition at the undergraduate level and to hold office hours and attend departmental meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Masters of Arts degree in English, or Masters of Arts degree in a similar discipline, with 18 graduate credits in English

  2. Considerable knowledge of and skills in areas of specialization in a discipline as stated above.

  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse student-body audience, both verbally and in writing, with emphasis applied to a commitment to diversity.

  4. Demonstrated ability to grasp and advocate institutional teachings and learning philosophies, specifically in a higher education environment.

  5. Proficiency in and commitment to distance learning online modalities.

  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all staff levels

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience, at a college or university, strongly preferred.
